St. John's Organ Cycle 2/25 | Bach-Collegium Prague
The St. John's Organ Cycle is enriched this year with one choral-instrumental concert, which significantly enriches the chamber series. This time, one of Bach's most famous chorale cantatas, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, will be performed, which deals with the well-known Gospel parable of the ten virgins. The main musical source of the cantata is the famous Lutheran hymn Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, written by Philipp Nicolai and which, in addition to Bach, has been covered in their works by a number of other composers.
